As barges plied the river this December night, blinking their Christmas lights in hopes residents of the retirement home would appreciate the gesture, one man doubted God could love him more than the sum of his sins. I watched in wonder as God's own words accomplished what my words never could...and one more soul found "peace on earth."

Jesus walked the earth during times of great national and international turmoil, and then he picked a team of regular men and women to build His Kingdom when He returned to heaven to advocate for us at the Father's right hand. Those regular men and women of faith changed the world in one generation. How? By looking and sounding and acting like the Prince of Peace.

"Do we hate the boss who just fired us, the collection agent who's harassing us, the customer who didn't pay us? Or is it politicians we hate, right or left? Aliens, legal or illegal? Pro or anti-abortionists? Comedians who mock Jesus? News commentators or book authors who attack Christians or Christianity? The moment we grant ourselves permission to hate even those who hate us, we become one with them and not one with Christ."
Want to change the world? Then be different when everyone expects you to be the same.

Since leaving California, this batch of troopers watched deserts turn to mountains, and mountains turn to dense Arctic forests, and then the wild would turn back to civilization somewhere shy of Denver. Nearly every soldier was seeing these American treasures for the first time, having never been more than 20 miles from home before the war.
Many were also seeing them for the last time.

Changing other lives will change your life. It's not just the shortest route to contentment, it's the only route to contentment. Every other path will leave you dissatisfied, always sure you're missing something. When God made us, it was to have the same outward focus He does; the same need to give and tend He does. That's what Jesus meant when He said "any man who loses his life for My sake will find it." Not sure where to start? Try this...
