"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." Jesus, in John 3:16
As the barge drifted front and center, a string of Christmas lights flashed on and off, greeting whomever might be looking to the river that chilly December evening.  Even a barge in the middle of the mighty Mississippi seemed to declare His glory.
As barges plied the river this December night, blinking their Christmas lights in hopes residents of the retirement home would appreciate the gesture, one man doubted God could love him more than the sum of his sins. I watched in wonder as God's own words accomplished what my words never could...and one more soul found "peace on earth."
It's the Christmas season, just after your child's Christmas pageant, when all you want to do is get home with your family....and then you see this big guy crying in the back of the church. What would you do? Here's what one man did...
Ever lost the Christmas spirit? Been overwhelmed by a season that seems to promise more than it can deliver? Follow us to the place where Christmas has always been found...and can be found anew by you.
Let your mood determine the order you read these Christmas tales. Merry Christmas!
Just as I am - though toss'd about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
-O Lamb of God, I come!
I'm sure an army of angels was chuckling at Tina that night. I'm also certain God was pleased by Tina's tender heart-
The whole world stopped, or so it seemed in that instant, to watch this woman throwing things at me in the grocery store. She screamed and cursed and cried as she vented in rage, and nothing I said sank in or slowed down the torrent. Eventually she did stop throwing things, but the yelling continued. She was telling everyone-at the top of her lungs-how I'd just fired her husband at Christmas and now she couldn't even buy groceries for her children.
The ones who've seen the darkest nights know best just how much even the tiniest flicker of hope can light that night. This Christmas, let the shepherds be the wise ones as we point our friends, neighbors and coworkers to the Light that never goes out.
